The First Step of SEO Process on a Blog is an article that is not intended for any of you who have blogged for several months or years already. It is aim for people who wants to start a new site or blog on the internet.

Here is a Scenario;

Imagine if you have just started a new blog. You already published an article that is perfectly placed long tail term keywords. You waited for 7 days and you still can’t find your written article on Google Search Engine Result Pages. I mean not even on the 20th page. Why?

It is because you have forgotten the first step of SEO process.

Google is the #1 most preferred search engine on the planet earth right now(I don’t know about Mars though). There is also Yahoo, MSN and more, but lets just start with Google.

Add Your URL to Google

Add Your URL to Google

Submitting your website URL to Google is actually your first step in seo process. You should do this once you publish the first post or page. Once you add your URL to Google, the Google-bot will index your site. It is like telling Google, “Hey you, I am here”. Indexing your website will let search engine know your website exist and start the web-crawling process. Google does not guarantee that indexing will be instant, but at least your website URL is already in the ques. However, many of us tend to forget about the First Step of SEO Process ,the Add your website URL to Google.

It’s true that your website will get an indexing process even if you do not initiate the first “salam” to Google. It will also occur when you start blogwalking and leave your link on other sites. Google-bot follows every inbound or outbound links it finds on any web pages and might arrive at your site if your link was placed there. The problem is, do you know when its going to happen? By adding your blog URL to Google, you are actually one step ahead than any other newly launch blog.

Please be reminded that adding your website URL to Google blogging tips, does not guarantee your site on the 1st page of Google SERP. You will need lots of other efforts to promote your blog like try to get as much as backlink to your blog(not spamming), writing more great articles, being involve in forums or other blogs comments section to gain traffic. There are tonnes of other steps to a perfectly SEO a blog like keywords placement technique and many more. This is just a one minor first step of seo process that people tend to forget. Writing this article is actually a reminder for myself. I hope that sharing this could remind you if you want to start a new blog or project on the internet as well. What were your first step to start seo your blog? Would you mind sharing it with me by leaving a comment or two.

There is no exact time until Google finds you. If you are lucky, once you leave your link on other site and that site get crawled on the same day. You might get an index process by Google-bot.

    Great tip.
Submitting your blog to search engines is definitely worth doing if your blog haven’t been indexed.

Anwar, Do we really need to submit it to google? or shall we allow google to index automatically? Because submitting really helps in the case of Yahoo and Bing,But google seems to taking more time when we submit the site..Please advice

It is not a must do step but it is one of the earliest step you could take on a new blog or website. Indexing process will occur even if you didn’t submit your url to google.

I prefer building a few links instead of submitting to the big search engines. Is time well spent if you build a few links instead of submitting the url to them. At least that’s how I do it :)

    Anwar Osman Reply:

It’s a 1 minute step and finish. If I build a new blog or site, I’ll take my chance to say hello to Google . Then working for back links is a forever job to do as long as I own a domain. That is just how I see it.

Thanks, I do believe it is a first step that only requires a minute and it is not a waste. Though Google would take its time to notice your blog on the net.

Set-up your domain with Google or MSN then write great content! That will definitely build views to your site. One of the online marketing maxims nowadays is to build more site traffic so you can have better chances of sales conversion.

Do you mean write on blogspot and put a backlink on the article?
