This is another post regarding Miranda IM and its Facebook Chat Protocol. This tutorial will guide you step-by-step with pictures. I guess I like Miranda very much because using this program on a low memory computer works well for me. Okay, 1st of all you need to download Miranda. Start installing the program by double clicking it. Then you need to download the Facebook Chat Protocol Plugin. The file is name Facebook.zip

• Unzip or extract Facebook.zip to your installed Miranda folder. You can check the default location on the picture below.

• Start your Miranda IM. Click on the Miranda small icon on the Main Menu then select Accounts. This is to create an account for your Facebook. Enter account name, (e.g: MyFacebook). And then choose your protocol by selecting Facebook. Press OK.

• When you are done with the above step. You will need to configure your account. You just need to enter your Facebook Login email and the password. Then press OK. Check image below.

• You can start to chit chat with your Facebook Friends by selecting Status>YourAccountName>Online. You can also use shortcut by pressing CTRL+1.

• Your main menu will look like this and you can double click on any of your friends in the list to start chatting without opening facebook on your web browser. Your chat window will look like this.

Miranda IM is a very light instant messenger program. I recommend using this program if you want to save resources on your pc or if you are on a low memory pc like mine. I’m using Windows XP with a 256MB SDRAM on a Pentium 4 desktop pc. So, you guess. Next, I will write another article on How to Remove Facebook Chat from your web browser.
