I have noticed something new in malaysian market, a cheap USB flashdrive model from SanDisk. One slick and stylish with a super cool name given to it, the SanDisk Cruzer Blade USB flash drive. Few models would really attract my attention as i’ve seen so many computer gadgets around me ever-since i’ve become an IT person. It was a long time ago since i last use any linux-base OS. Back then it was hard for a typical Malaysian like me to get in-touch with friends through IM since most of my friends are using Yahoo IM in Windows.

Empathy 2.28.1
Therefore I’m stuck with Windows most of the time. However, today i installed Ubuntu 9.10 and i noticed Emphaty IM Client 2.28.1.
Empathy is a messaging program which supports text, voice, and video chat and file transfers over many different protocols. Luckily for a Linux Newbie like me, Emphaty is easy to use. It comes as a default IM for Ubuntu 9.10 release.
The key feature is that it can support instant messaging through multi-protocols . ( Eg: Google Talk (Jabber/XMPP),Yahoo IM, MSN, IRC, Salut, AIM, Facebook, Gadu Gadu, Groupwise, ICQ and QQ.)
I also found out that Empathy supports File Transfer for XMPP and local networks. Although i have not try this feature yet.
